MAUREEN, THE

CHIEF DOG COACH

Maureen has experience with dogs her whole life.

She is more a practitioner than a theoretician. But she learned as well a lot of other trainers.

Following the newest developments in the internet she tries out the most interesting methods with our own rudel.

The best successes she adapts in her own developed training method, which is approved by now more than 200 different dogs here on Renno Ranch. Westpointer and Pedigrees.

Maureen 'studied' the behavior, what the dogs in our pack have among each other, their own way of communicating, and implants the insights into her own training methods which are constantly improving.

Already in her earliest childhood Maureen grew up with shepherds.

When she was 6 years old, she had a new stepfather, a man who bred, trained and educated shepherds.

He was one of the few trainers in this time who already worked with positive reinforcement instead of drill and penalty.

Maureen was always with and around them.

On the weekend at the training ground, the stepdad was shiny and successful with his great dogs.

During the week he was working elsewhere and Maureen took care of the dogs, trained them daily and made the cleanliness of their shelter sure.

LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR COACHES

Perhaps she had experienced and developed her special gift at that time. A child has to communicate with the animals without much words. And she did.

Bodylanguage and the intuitiv understanding she had with the dogs, developed a deep bondage out of trust, love and understanding. Even so young, the dogs accepted her as their human leader.

She still succeeds in this today.

She simply 'understands' the dogs, and the dogs also do understand her.

And today she is sort of a cross between a dog trainer and a dog whisperer, we call it a dog/owner team-coach.

Already in 2013, the topic:

'Dogs on Curaçao' captivated us more and more.

Maureen observed that many people on the island own dogs, but most of them don't really know how to handle them properly.

We had to experience, that frustrated people brought dogs back to the shelter out of helplessness, because they didn't know how to communicate with the animal.

Maureen started helping acquaintances and their friends and trained very successfully with them and their animals.

From this observation an idea developed. We wanted to help the dogs, but also to coach the insecure owners, how to 'talk' properly with their animal. On Curaçao you mostly have quite a number of dogs, which can potentiate problems in dealing with each other (dog - human) correctly.

This is how Renno Ranch developed and still develops.
