USCHI, KEEPING ALL THINGS TOGETHER

Heavily bitten by a former border guard shepherd when she was a child, Uschi was always more than afraid when she crossed a dogs way.

In fact she did not cross his way, for she rather climbed a tree than meet a small Chihuaha.

​

This was still the case when we came to Curaçao and decided to keep dogs.

 

The first rescued dogs we took, were 2 Westpointer Puppies of about 12 weeks and around 6 Kilo.

That seemed giant to her.

 

Meanwhile her attitude has changed and she is the second leader of the pack, not being afraid of foreign dogs either anymore.

​

Anyway, she still knows exactly how it feels not knowing how to act and not knowing how to deal with a dog.

So her part on Renno Ranch is the communication with the owners and their coaching, to develop a better understanding and finding a 'common language' with their dog(s).

​

One of her biggest key experiences was, when all of a sudden an older grumpy vacation dog (not educated at all) started to attack Maureen.

​

Without thinking and just acting, she started to defend Maureen with nothing but a pot lid in her hands, she chased the dog across the shelter, being really angry and as such very authentic. 

​

That was the beginning of a deeper understanding how the communication between dog and owner or leader has to be.
